On 25–29 May 2025, the 92nd General Session of the World Assembly of Delegates of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) took place in Paris. Dmytro Kyryliuk, President of the Ukrainian Veterinary Alliance, attended the session as an invited guest.

Vaccines and animal vaccination were the central theme of the session. Participants also discussed:
- barriers to vaccine development and access;
- tackling antimicrobial resistance;
- international trade in animals and animal products;
- preparation of WOAH’s new Strategic Plan.
The Assembly adopted a number of new and revised international standards – chapters of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code, the Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals and the aquatic animal health standards. These documents set out how countries prevent and control animal diseases and ensure safe trade.
For the veterinary medicines sector, WOAH standards have practical significance: EU legislation draws on them, and so does Ukrainian legislation as it is harmonised with EU law. Taking part in events like this helps the Alliance see where international regulation is heading and bring these approaches to the Ukrainian sector.
Note. WOAH (World Organisation for Animal Health) is an intergovernmental organisation that develops international standards for animal health, including for safe international trade. Ukraine is a member of WOAH.
